Lovely old antique Battersea Round stoneware crucible, made in England in the first part of the 20th century and used for assaying gold.
Crucibles like these were used in the mines, heated at very high heat in furnaces to reduce the ore samples to check for precious metal content. This particular crucible was dug up and found in Tasmania.
It has the Battersea logo printed nice & clearly on the front. An uncommon piece of history to add to your decor.
The piece has wear, marks, chips, cracks & residue from age & use. This just adds to its charm and character.
Measures approx 11.5cm high.
Includes three beautiful banksias
